UFI, a global leader in filtration and thermal management solutions, as well as green hydrogen technologies, is launching its new range of oil filters for automatic transmissions at Automechanika Frankfurt (Hall 4.0, Stand D71). The initial range will be available from November, and will comprise 48 part numbers covering approximately 60 per cent of the European vehicle parc fitted with automatic gearboxes. Together these offer around 7,000 applications across nearly 60 million cars, including those of leading automotive brands such as Audi, BMW, Citroën, Ford, Mercedes-Benz, Opel and Peugeot. UFI aims to extend this to 90 per cent coverage of the vehicle fleet in 2027.
The range of 48 part numbers will include various types of transmission filters: pressure filters, suction filters and complete kits containing all the necessary components, each of which is identified by its own part number.
Where indicated in the original equipment specifications, the complete kits may include the transmission oil suction filter, the pressure filter, the gasket, the drain plug and any other components required to carry out maintenance operations correctly.
The company’s oil filters for automatic transmissions will be available to the aftermarket under the UFI and SOFIMA brands.
Meeting every need
UFI’s new range of oil filters for automatic transmissions will also meet the filtration requirements of electric and hybrid cars.
Transmission filters play a vital role as they lubricate the gears and prevent them from overheating, ensuring they operate at their best. The oil is drawn from the sump by a pump, passes through the filter and is distributed to the transmission components, including the gears and the gear selector. Friction between components releases particles into the lubrication circuit, making a high-efficiency filter essential to protect sensitive transmission parts such as the pump, hydraulic valves and contact surfaces.
For these reasons, it is essential that transmission oil filters are of high quality and meet the protection demands of the pumps, from standard to the finest filtration grades. In terms of their filter housings, the design varies according to their position (suction or pressure), the type of filter and the level of integration within the transmission block.
UFI filters meet all these requirements with a quality equal to that of original filters, using different types of filter media depending on the application specifications.
FormulaUFI.EXTREME is a high-performance filter media, suitable for operation in the most demanding conditions. It consists of synthetic fibres that maximise the filter’s service life, reduce pressure drops and, at the same time, maintain high filtration efficiency.
FormulaUFI.STRATIFLEX is characterised by a layered combination of different materials such as cellulose, glass fibre and hydrophobic fabrics, offering optimal performance and longer replacement intervals. This formulation ensures unrivalled filtration efficiency, combined with a long filter service life and effective separation of water from other fluids.
Finally, FormulaUFI.WEB is a metal mesh filter capable of trapping contaminants whilst protecting sensitive and critical components. Its sturdy, durable steel mesh is compatible with high-temperature fluids and ensures low pressure drops even at high flow rates, making it suitable for the most extreme conditions.
